Mental Health

At Filton Ave Primary School, we prioritize the emotional health and wellbeing of our students. We understand the important role schools play in building resilience and supporting children to maintain good mental health.

There may be times when your child struggles emotionally. You might notice signs such as sadness or worry, while we may observe them becoming withdrawn or upset. This is not uncommon, and we are well-equipped to provide additional support when needed.

We offer a range of in-school support, including:

  • ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants)
  • Drawing and Talking therapy
  • Hamish and Milo sessions
  • Experienced professionals available for your child to talk to
  • Year 6 children trained as Mental Health champions so they can support their peers

We also work closely with external agencies and can refer to:

  • The School Health Nurse
  • Mental Health in Schools specialists
  • Social prescribing services
  • Primary mental health specialists from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)

Our goal is to ensure that every child gets the support they need to thrive both emotionally and academically.

If you would like to speak to someone in school about your child’s wellbeing and mental health, please get in contact with Fran Mills.
